Played guitar with George Harrison in the ex-Beatle's kitchen until day turned to night. He cut studio tracks with John Prine, Levon Helm, Albert King, Joe Cocker and many other respected and best-selling artists. He played on Lynyrd Skynyrd's Muscle Shoals demos and came close to joining that band. Perkins was hanging around the Los Angeles country-rock scene when the Eagles were formed. He dated folk goddess Joni Mitchell, played on her essential "Court and Spark" LP and lived with her at David Geffen's Beverly Hills mansion. On Bob Marley & The Wailers' "Catch a Fire" album, Perkins overdubbed guitar lines that helped the Jamaican reggae act connect with worldwide rock and pop audiences. He's also led a life that cuts through '70s rock history like a lightning bolt. Chong’s musical style is often compared to Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Ben Harper/Jack Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Marley.Wayne Perkins is arguably the greatest guitarist Alabama ever produced. His great original music and encyclopedic knowledge of cover songs have kept him one of the busiest working musicians anywhere. Chong’s solo show consists of acoustic guitar and the modern phenomena of live looping- a skill which gives him the ability to be a one man band. Jesse is known for his musical versatility and genre blending. Chong has been a consistent headliner on the area’s main stages and festivals, and is a staple of the local music scene. Jesse has officially self-produced and released three albums- two of which are available through his website, CD Baby, and ITunes. Not only does Jesse perform regularly as a solo artist but he sits in with a wide variety of musicians in the area and maintains his own ensemble known as the Chong Band. Working as a full time musician since 2001, he is one of the most highly regarded and respected artists in the regional scene.
